Daybreak

One time in a night that seemed to last forever, on a lonely beach there dwelled a spirit of a boy. He would always watch the life at the beach pass him by. He'd watch the stars high in the sky and reach up to them with his ghostly hand pretending to grasp them in his palms.
The star that he always reached for watched the spirit over time, and so strong was its desire to meet him that it was granted its own wish, for every star holds a wish inside, and it was born to the Earth as a human.
The little star grew up as a girl in a good family. She was always unique; she would stand out in a crowd with her stunning golden eyes and white-silver hair, and her features were pale and fine.
By the time the star grew up, it had forgotten that it had ever been a star at all.
On one night, while she was walking on a lonely beach with her first love holding hands and laughing at sweet nothings, she noticed the figure of a lonely boy sitting on the rocks looking up to the sky. He looked sad.
When she tried to tell her companion of the boy, he looked perplexed saying that he could see nothing but the rocks.
When she looked back she saw nothing more.
Years passed...
Not until she was old and on her death bed, did the star remember why she had come to Earth in the first place, and she remembered that one night on the beach and wept.
The little star left the Earth taking form once more in the sky.
She was overjoyed as she saw the face of the spirit boy look up and brighten with a genuine smile.
He once more reached to the sky and embraced the star that he loved so dearly as though he could feel it in his hand. The little star glowed brighter than it had ever glowed before, and resolved that its love could wait. It would surely endeavor to meet the spirit boy upon the daybreak of the endless night.

Wow. Mikhaila, you have outdone yourself. Words fail me- whereas your succinct words have spoken volumes of emotion.
ReplyDeleteI adore this piece.
And I wish to see you illustrate it one day.
